This installation provided many logistical and technical challenges to our team, not least the extremely harsh weather and high altitude installation site.
The brief required that the camera installation be able to feed a live stream of high resolution images to the Cairngorm’s website as well as the customers intranet facility from the main Ptarmigan basin ski area located near the mountain summit. In addition it was a pre-requisite that the camera be located outdoors, be able to withstand extreme weather conditions during the winter months where the area regularly has very low temperatures and extremely high wind speeds and huge snowfalls. Finally to add further complexity due to the National Park status, outdoor cabling to the equipment was not an option so all the equipment had to be wireless compatible, the image stream being fed back to the network using industrial strength 2.4GHZ wireless bridging.
